Going Back:Home

Developed as part of the London Festival of Architecture 2026, Going Back:Home explores how contemporary housing can foster stronger communities by reinterpreting the social principles of the traditional West African compound home.

Rather than focusing solely on density or unit numbers, the proposal investigates how Architecture can encourage belonging, neighbourly interaction and a greater sense of ownership. Through carefully considered thresholds, shared courtyards and layered public and private spaces, the scheme demonstrates how higher density housing can remain both commercially viable and deeply human.
